Mirror Mirror on the Wall…..

Anyone remember that the title of this post is that line from the classic fairy tale Snow White, where the evil stepmother goes to her magic mirror to reassure herself that she is the “fairest of them all…..”?

Before I go on, let me just say I thought (as a child) that Snow White was a criminal, I mean come on, she breaks into the seven dwarves house and basically squats. No amount of “concerned” adults telling me that I was “missing the point” would convince me otherwise; ergo to me the rest of the story was pointless. I kept waiting for the bit where the dwarves called the police and had her arrested. Anyway, I digress.

What this fairy tale is premised on is that, as far as this nasty evil Queen is concerned, all her self esteem is wrapped up in being the “fairest” except as we know, she was a really nasty piece of work, with the personality of a medusa, black widow spider, shark and praying mantis combined – no baking cookies for this chick.

This murderous Queen constantly seeks affirmation that her external appearance is superior to and “fairer” than any other woman in the kingdom.  Unfortunately one of the attributes of this Magic mirror is that is can also never lie.

Which brings us to; what kinds of defective, distorting fairground mirrors do feminists and a lot of women possess? Seriously, what parallel universe or mythical place in Never Never land are they buying these things?

The belief that a lot women seem to have about themselves, as fabulous beautiful goddess radiating some kind of celestial aura is………………either an example of mass delusion or their mirrors are definitely defective.

I’m going with mass delusion.

My mother taught me this:

“It’s all very well and good being the prettiest picture on the wall, but there’s only so long you can stand there looking at it without getting bored, what are you going to do then?  Throw sugar at it?”

So, now we have reached a point, historically and metaphorically speaking, where these magic mirrors that women have been relying on are cracking, where in fact it is becoming clearer and clearer that they were not, and are not mirrors but paintings, just “special” paintings, like the one in The Picture of Dorian Gray – Oscar Wilde’s classic novel  about a young man who sold his soul to stay “young and beautiful” forever, all the while living a life of debauchery, dissolution and unrestrained hedonism.  Problem was, while he remained unmarked by this life, the painting showed every scar, every sign of this life he wanted to lead, without paying the price.  He, of course had to hide the degenerating image of the painting in the attic so he could maintain the illusion of youthful perfection and innocence in public. [1]

For the purposes of this post, and to utilise the metaphor of the painting, in relation to modern women, someone is finding those magic paintings, someone is dragging those magic paintings out of the attic, and someone is pointing at them and saying this is what she really looks like! this is what she really is!

Actually is it more than just one “someone” it’s is a lot of “someone’s” it is the men, and hopefully more and more women of the MRM uncovering and revealing these false images carefully hidden away, putting them on display and inviting the world to……..look!

THIS is what lies at the heart of a woman who falsely accuses a man of rape because she was drunk and had sex then woke up the next morning and needed to maintain the illusion of herself as some innocent snowflake taken advantage of by a brute, a barbarian, a criminal.

This is what lies hidden at the core of a woman who marries a man for convenience, for material gain, for unearned security and to father her children, and then ejects, sheds and disposes of that man like yesterdays garbage coldly and calculatedly.  Then callously proceeds to alienate this innocent man from his children, and worse, alienates those innocent children from their father.  Creating a poisonous cloud of lies to justify this repugnant behaviour; such as “I’m doing it for the children” “he is a dangerous thug and I’m scared of him

If one looked at her painting hidden away in the attic, what would the image be showing as these lies spewed out?

A vile ugly hag with a sneer contemptuously enveloping her dissolute face, that’s what you’d see. A hawk-faced harridan with hard eyes, and an even harder, colder heart.

It’s all smoke and mirrors, illusion and falsity, self delusion and subterfuge, and it is unravelling “ladies” your magic mirrors are cracking and your magic paintings are staring to stink. The malodorous vapour is seeping out under the door of that locked attic and there is nothing you can do about it. You made a pact with the devil (feminism) and Now – it’s time to pay the price.

Will leave you with one last word of wisdom from my mother:

“!f you sup with the devil, you’d better bring a long spoon”

Personal Note

I’m in the process of putting together some thoughts about self image, how we see ourselves and how distorted self-images influence behaviour. To some extent how cultural influences, such as the messages in fairy tales spoon-fed to girls get carried by them into their allegedly adult lives.  Bit of a challenge for me, because I hated fairy tales about sappy princesses as a child. The greatest mind opening books I ever read were The Lord of The Rings – J.R.R Tolkien [2] and To Kill a Mocking Bird – Harper Lee [3]. Up until a few years ago, I used to re-read both these books once every year. Need to get back to doing that – food for the mind indeed.

[1] Spark Notes on The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde;

“The first edition appeared in the summer of 1890 in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine. It was criticized as scandalous and immoral. Disappointed with its reception, Wilde revised the novel in 1891, adding a preface and six new chapters. The Preface (as Wilde calls it) anticipates some of the criticism that might be leveled at the novel and answers critics who charge The Picture of Dorian Gray with being an immoral tale”. http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/doriangray/summary.html

[2] About the author J.R.R Tolkien: Lord of The Rings originally published in three volumes 1954 – 1955. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._R._R._Tolkien

[3] Spark Notes on To kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee: Published in 1960.

“In 1931, when Lee was five, nine young black men were accused of raping two white women near Scottsboro, Alabama. After a series of lengthy, highly publicized, and often bitter trials, five of the nine men were sentenced to long prison terms. Many prominent lawyers and other American citizens saw the sentences as spurious and motivated only by racial prejudice. It was also suspected that the women who had accused the men were lying, and in appeal after appeal, their claims became more dubious. There can be little doubt that the Scottsboro Case, as the trials of the nine men came to be called, served as a seed for the trial that stands at the heart of Lee’s novel”.

MGTOW and Female “Disapproval…”

Yes I know, what would I, a female, know about the myriad factors that go into a male decision to GHOW, or a male orientating his life to minimise or lessen, if not outright avoid any engagement with women.  It’s a fair point and the answer is, I don’t know, I can respect that decision and acknowledge that this man has the right to live his life anyway he chooses, but I really cannot get inside his head and feel what he feels or has felt.

Ok, having said that, this is not what this is about, this is about shining a bit of a spotlight on why some women, sometimes feminists, sometimes not, seem to have this visceral negative reaction to MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way), why some females take it upon themselves to pour scorn and vitriol on the heads of these men.

Actually the clue is in the acronym – MEN GOING THEIR OWN WAY – now whether or not women will admit it, the fact is for a lot of women there is no male “way” men live by the grace and favour of women.  Without that grace and favour men will be made feel the full force of female disapproval, which manifests itself in many ways, from the relatively benign – ever seen a women convey her disapproval of a male action by a slight pursing of her lips, a slight stiffening of her body? Am betting every man and boy has, and has noticed an immediate change in the behaviour of that man or boy? Of course female disapproval can and does manifest itself in much more direct, abusive and violent ways – the point is though, women reserve the right to themselves to arbitrate and exercise approval of male actions, male behaviour, in fact male autonomy.

Our modern society is now exclusively orientated towards achieving, obtaining and accommodating this female approval. MGTOW comprehensively rejects and delegitimizes any necessity for female approval or sanction, MGTOW is men thumbing their noses, giving the finger to the notion that men live by the grace and favour of women. It literally pulls the rug out from under the feet of women who whether consciously or not have internalised the idea that men are a resource FOR women, that men live and die to serve women’s needs, wants and whims, that men have no other function but to be at the beck and call of women, if and when a woman decides SHE had some need that a man is obliged to answer and/or fill,

MGTOW quite clearly asserts that there IS a male “way” that the default female “MY way or the highway” cultural norm is now being rejected, dismissed and basically a mirage, an illusion,

The universal pedestal that the vast majority of women believe they stand upon is crumbling beneath their feet, the illusion that they occupy some rarefied higher plane of existence in relation to men is shattered, and the self absorbed selfish and egotisical belief that men live for and In Service to women is……………….a joke.

MGTOW is literally a slap in the face for women, it is saying to women in clear unequivocal terms – You are Not really all That!

Of course there is another deeper and more subtle message that MGTOW conveys that is precipitating the current spewings from female voices, feminist or otherwise – MGTOW is a manifestation of MALE DISSAPROVAL of female behaviour, actions etc – it is saying – we’ve seen what you have to offer, we’ve watched the way you present your “goods” and……………….nope, not buying!

Oh dear Lord, men rejecting females, men giving women the once over and not snapping up one of these delightful creatures! Heaven forfend! – all this female spluttering in rage, hurling of epitaphs, heaping of scorn, is the female equivalent of a spoilt obnoxious brat throwing the mother of all tantrums at not being picked to play the princess in the school play – because – well because I AM a Princess!

The notion that men choose to reject women – is simply not to be borne!

There is yet another underlying subtle message that women who have an “issue” with the whole MGTOW phenomenon tend to raise – men left to their own devices will turn into, if they haven’t already, uncouth violent barbarians without the “civilising” influence and monitoring no doubt of women. Wonder how that stacks up in the face of numerous YT videos of females (usually drunk) causing mayhem in city centres on weekends – here in Ireland in Dublin we get a lot of “hen parties” around the Temple Bar area – the behaviour of these females is jaw-droppingly loud, violent, abusive and not to put too fine a point on it – disgusting – urinating and vomiting in the street being a big problem. Hmmm, I simply cannot fathom why men would be “turned off” by that!

Really! Boys, lads – what ails ye at all? Don’t ye know that there are wimmin out there ready and willing to rip your heart out, itching to use, abuse and reject YOU? Literally foaming at the mouth to squeeze every last penny out of you, give birth to your children then taunt you for 18 years by holding those children hostage, to ransom?

Lads, MGTOW is just mean, it’s not playing the game – sorry – what did you say?  The game is rigged? Nooooooooooooo! Really? Ah, well then, off ya go, have fun, and for goodness sakes lads – mind yerselves – them wimmin are very very sneaky.
